The Philippines is home to 186 species of birds that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth1.

Unfortunately 22 of these rare birds are endangered according to data obtained from the International Union for Conservation of Nature or IUCN2.

These 22 birds are illustrated here in the style of a popular mobile phone game "Angry Birds3," alongside additional info on each bird.

SOURCES

1. According to Conservation International there are 186 Philippine endemic birds known.

2. The terms "endangered" and "critically endangered" are terms used by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to assess species that are in danger of becoming extinct based on specific criteria and methods involving population decreases, ranges, and more. Here I consider both "endangered" and "critically endangered" species endangered altogether since "critically endangered" essentially means endangered to an even more threatened extent.

The IUCN actually lists 12 endangered and 15 critically endangered endemic birds but I found that 2 of the endangered birds and 3 of the critically endangered birds were migratory. For this reason I opted not to include them in this website to emphasize only the birds that are endemic or native to the Philippines.
